After weeks of counting down, we’re thrilled that Coverings — the most important event of the year for the tile and stone industry — is finally here! Next week, industry professionals ranging from manufacturers and distributors to architects and designers will gather in Orlando.
As in previous years, attendees will watch presentations to learn about new industry standards and innovations. But our favorite part of the event is seeing all the new products on display.
These past eight weeks, we’ve covered each of the trends we expect to see. With emphasis on timeless luxury, health and wellness, sustainability, and outdoor living, these trends highlight the impact tile can make not only on interior decor, but on mental, physical, and environmental health.
To prepare for the event (and soothe our anticipation), let’s take a final look at all of the tile trends 2023 has in store.
Undulated
2023 isn’t about perfection, but about the human element of designs.
When it comes to tile, that means we’ll see more undulated (or gently uneven) surfaces. This handmade look gives the impression that each tile was individually crafted, making for a one-of-a-kind design.

Cobbled
Cobbled tile refers to aggregate looks that range from charming cobblestone to classic terrazzos to old-school mosaics. These designs ground your space with a sense of history and artistry.

Cemented
Cemented tile has been trending for a while now, but recently the focus has been less on its industrial vibe and more on its versatility.
For instance, cement-look tile comes in mosaics and large-format options, squares and more unique shapes. Choose from options that appear tinted, textured, sanded, or layered — the choices are endless.

In & Out
This trend highlights 2 cm thick tile pavers made to match indoor (thinner) counterparts. These coordinated collections are used to create visually seamless indoor/outdoor tile floors. Carrying a design from the inside to the outside of your home blurs the lines between the two, encouraging better use of your entire space.

Statement Stones
Floor-to-ceiling gauged porcelain in dramatic stone looks propels a trend toward individual expression in interior design. In other words, why choose a bland safe-for-resale design when you can make a statement with a more intriguing stone look that speaks to your personal aesthetic?

Darkening
While light tile is often favored for its ability to brighten a space, darker hues are taking off as a contemporary way to ground a space — and add a little drama. Options range from edgy to elegant, so consider the vibe you want to create.

Pinks
We’ll wrap up our 2023 tile trend predictions with one that packs a punch.
Pink tile is trending across the board, from blushes to corals to mauves and magentas. If you’re looking to splash some color into a more neutral space, there’s a rosy option out there for you. Pink has the power to calm, energize or “cozify” depending on your pick.
