A new study, conducted by CNA Risk Control, could help lead to the reduction of slip and fall accidents in America by managing slip and fall risks on hard surface floors. The study, featured in the current issue of Risk and Insurance took place over the past 12 months. It addresses slip resistance and maintenance of interior floors as well as risk awareness. The use of tribometry—the measurement of friction on a surface, in this case measured by the DCOF AcuTest®—complemented with floor characteristics and floor cleaning information created a study rich with technical information. A key “takeaway” of the paper is the call to conform to the new slip resistance testing standard, ANSI A 326.3 Test Method for Measuring DCOF of Hard Surface Flooring Materials.
