We are excited to announce that Coverings, the most important event of the year for the tile and stone industry, is taking place this week. Manufacturers, distributors, architects, and other industry professionals will all convene in Las Vegas to learn from live presentations and — our favorite part — admire exhibits and new products on display.
As the products and designs featured at Coverings both represent and contribute to up-and-coming tile trends, we are always eager to see what’s in store.
We’ve already shared the top tile trends we expect to be on display this year. These trends culminate in a focus that’s been evolving in recent few years, namely a healthier approach to living that is mindful of how we treat the planet and how we create an environment for ourselves that contributes to our overall health and well-being.
This year, throughout the exhibits and presentations of Coverings, you will see this focus within three main pillars:
- Timeless luxury
- Outdoor living
- Health and wellness
Timeless Luxury
Ceramic tile is unique in that its longevity and durability provide great value AND it is highly-valued for creating truly luxurious spaces.
This year, we expect to see luxury reach a new scale altogether. In particular, we expect to see luxurious examples of:
- Gauged porcelain tile panels/slabs
- Unique styles, such as floor-to-ceiling marble looks
- Ceramic tile used in second and third (vacation) homes
Essentially, Coverings 2022 is the place to see tile’s grandeur at its best.

Outdoor Living
Tile’s resistance to water, stains, and scratches as well as all-around durability make it a perfect choice for outdoor spaces. As such, we often see tile in patios and decks, pool surrounds, outdoor kitchens, and even indoor-outdoor spaces. Ceramic tile pavers are also perfect for creating walkways and unique looks.
We also expect to see the focuses on timeless luxury and outdoor living come together. Gorgeous outdoor spaces such as the seaside deck above will combine the best of the outdoors, ceramic tile, and design.

Health & Wellness
Along with tile and stone, health and wellness will be a major focus for Coverings 2022.
We’ve long known that ceramic tile is hygienic (think bacteria-resistant and easy to clean) and sustainable. Recent conversations around these benefits highlight how they feed into each other and are both necessary for a product to be considered a “healthy” choice.
