To keep our National Tile Day celebration going, we’ve been revealing one of 2019’s most anticipated tile trends each week.
Our first two entries brought us wood-look tile and geometric tiles and pattern play. This week’s trend is lustrous dark marble-look tile.
This striking look has been turning heads all over the world and the internet. These are just a few of the designs on Instagram that we just had to call out, in part because they prove that the beauty of a dark marble look works with any space and design.
Classic: Black and White Marble-Look Tile Grid
What’s more classic than a black and white tile checkerboard?
This majestic marble-look tile has a simple game strategy: to impress with time-honored style and the durability of ceramic tile. We stand a little taller when we cross flooring this beautiful, especially if it’s laid out across a grand foyer.
Even a modest entryway or hallway is made more regal by this traditional design.
Minimalistic: Black Marble-Look Porcelain Slabs
This kitchen illustrates that the most impressive spaces don’t need decor extras.
The number of tiles used in this design is kept to a minimum with large-scale, marble-look porcelain slabs. Choosing slabs over smaller tiles — and specifically pieces that have veins that are both thin and minimal — limits the amount of visual lines that are created. This is a key element of minimalistic design, which strives to create a fluid, unobstructed sense of movement.
If you click through the photos, you’ll see that the dark marble slabs are used for — and look great on — the kitchen counters, flooring, and backsplash, creating a cohesive style. A matte finish gives the surfaces a deep, rich tone that allows your eyes to sink into the space.
Creative: Black and White Marble-Look Herringbone Tile
This look incorporates two trending design elements: dark marble-look tile and the herringbone pattern.
Both of these characteristics help create a modern look for this curbless shower. The herringbone pattern combines rectangular tiles at 90-degree angles to create a V design, and opposites attract with the solid black wall contrasting with the solid white wall.
The staggering of black tiles on the floor, laid to imply a random transformation to white, is a perfect contemporary design twist that makes this a one-of-a-kind look.
Natural: Black and Brown Marble-Look Tile
The flooring in this cafe manifests a unique look that’s both eatherial and earth-bound at the same time.
The abundant brown tones in the black marble-look tile give it a multidimensional appearance that has incredible visual depth and a sophisticated surface reminiscent of reclaimed stone.
Relaxing in this cafe has to feel like stepping into the beauty of the great outdoors — or maybe even out of this world!
