As the demand for eco-conscious building materials is ever-evolving with increasingly stringent sustainability standards throughout the supply chain, the Flooring Sustainability Summit emerged in 2024 as a catalyst for increased collaboration across the all sectors of the flooring supply chain. Leaders from across the flooring supply chain came together with standards developers, policymakers, green builders, and procurement officials to address the challenges and opportunities of today’s sustainability landscape. The inaugural Summit’s impact was further amplified by coverage from over 60 media outlets, solidifying its role as a landmark event for the flooring industry.
The 2025 Flooring Sustainability Summit is scheduled for July 16-17 in Washington, D.C., at The Mayflower Hotel. Co-hosted by the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI), North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA), Natural Stone Institute (NSI), National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA), Resilient Flooring Covering Institute (RFCI), and Tile Council of North America (TCNA), the second annual Summit will provide a platform for open dialogue, cross-industry collaboration, and forward-thinking strategies.
Bill Griese, Chairman of the Summit and Deputy Executive Director of TCNA, underscored this need, stating: “Fostering collaboration across the supply chain is vital to addressing years of confusion around green initiatives, rating systems, and industry preferences.”
Unifying the Industry
With this commitment to collaboration among all flooring major manufacturer associations and their members, the Summit has also garnered participation from high-profile companies in the supply chain, including McDonald’s, Gensler, Floor & Décor, and Sherwin-Williams. Additionally, federal agencies and leading sustainability organizations, such as the General Services Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, US Green Building Council, American Institute of Architects, International Interior Design Association, and American Society of Interior Designers, have been involved in this important dialogue.

Panelists represent diverse perspectives from the flooring industry, federal government, policy makers, green building standards organizations, architecture and design communities, and sustainability advocacy groups. Following each panel, smaller group workshops provide an opportunity for deeper discussions. Attendees can engage directly with panelists and share perspectives with participants from across the supply chain, fostering meaningful dialogue and important takeaways.
